This recipe is a favorite among members of our medical weight loss clinics and is the perfect summer entrée—it’s packed with refreshing flavor and is super healthy to boot. Salmon is an excellent source of the lean protein we need when we’re dieting and is loaded with a bevy of beneficial nutrients that help our bodies function at their best. It’s rich in omega-3 fatty acids and protein, making it a very filling dish. Salmon is also a great source of the antioxidant amino acid taurine, as well as niacin, phosphorus, selenium and vitamins B6, B12 and D.
Avocados are loaded with fiber and monounsaturated fats, including oleic acid, a “heart healthy” fatty acid, which together contributes to this recipe’s hunger satiating breakdown. They are low in calories and saturated fat, yet rich in important nutrients including folate, potassium and vitamins C, E, K, B5 and B6. Avocados also contain trace amounts of iron, copper, zinc, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, niacin, thiamine and riboflavin. Despite their delicious taste, avocados do not contain any sodium or cholesterol.
