3 Ways to Stay on Track With Your Resolutions

How are your New Year’s resolutions going? If you’re like the majority of Americans, you may have resolved to lose weight or get in better shape this year. If that’s the case, we hope you’ve stayed on track, whether you’ve recently signed up at a new gym or are following one of our easy weight loss programs. If you’re having a little trouble sticking to your plan, here are three tips that should help you achieve your weight loss goals in 2016.

  1. Reward thyself. One of the best ways to hit your weight loss goals, or any goal for that matter, is to establish a reward system. Don’t just reward yourself for the end goal, either—set up mini-goals with rewards for hitting each. A shopping spree is a great goal, especially since you’ll need new clothes as you lose weight. However, it’s important to set goals that will work for you based on your likes—it can be anything going to the movies or indulging in a spa day to going on a weekend getaway or beach vacation. Write the goal down on a small piece of paper or put it in your wallet or phone—make sure that it states both your goal and reward. Take it out and look at it when you’re feeling weak.

  2. Creative visualization. Take a few minutes every day to visualize what you want to look like and how you want to feel. You can get really specific by identifying a certain outfit or article of clothing that you want to fit into once you lose weight and visualizing it, or thinking about achieving a certain fitness goal and how it will feel, such as running a 5K or marathon, winning a boxing match or hitting that yoga position you’ve always dreamt about.

  3. Don’t give up. Whatever you do, never give up. Also, remember that no one is perfect. If you do have a week moment and cheat or indulge a little, simply forgive yourself and get back on the program. Don’t beat yourself up—just move on and forward in a positive direction.
