Summer isn’t the only season that yields amazing fruits and vegetables; the autumn harvest offers a bevy of delicious produce to help you lose weight. Below are five favorites that are rich in dietary fiber, which fills us up and promotes healthy digestion, as well as important antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Apples are loaded with an array of antioxidants that help boost immunity, combat chronic illnesses and fight off the signs of aging. Don’t peel these babies—the skin is packed with heart-healthy flavonoids that you don’t want to miss out on. A normal-sized apple contains approximately four grams of fiber, making them a very filling snack.
Don’t let their size fool you—these miniature veggies pack a serious nutritional punch. They’re loaded with fiber and vitamins A, B1, B6, C and K. Brussels sprouts are also a great source of iron, protein, potassium, copper, folate, choline, manganese and omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, they contain high levels of glucosinolates, which have been shown to help fight cancer.
Sweet potatoes are the leader of the potato family when it comes to fiber and essential nutrients like vitamins C. They also have significantly less calories than your typical Idaho potato. Sweet potatoes are especially rich in beta-carotene, which promotes healthy eyesight and helps protect the skin from sun damage from the inside out. Sweet potatoes are also a good source of copper, potassium, niacin, manganese, phosphorus and pantothenic acid. Don’t limit them to a side dish at dinner—they make an excellent addition to a breakfast scramble or casserole.
This unique veggie is ideal for low carb diets and weight loss programs. It’s an excellent substitute for pasta that provides great taste, texture and an array of health benefits. Spaghetti Squash is loaded with fiber, vitamins A and C, and antioxidants including beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin, which all promote healthy eyesight. It’s also a great source of folate, potassium, the B vitamins and both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
