6 Post-Thanksgiving Diet Tweaks

1. Be realistic. 

Set doable goals for the upcoming week. Aim to lose a pound or just get back to where you were before the holiday. 

2. Eat some leafy greens.

One of the best ways to feel better after a holiday weekend is by eating lots of fiber-rich leafy greens, such as Brussels sprouts, spinach, collard greens, kale, Swiss chard or green beans. In addition to fiber, these veggies also loaded with antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. Leafy greens will fill you up while keeping you healthy.

3. Hydrate.

It’s important to re-hydrate, especially if you imbibed over the holiday weekend. Drink lots of water and tea to fill you up and flush the toxins from your system.

4. Hit the gym.

Don’t lose motivation if you took time off from your regular workouts. Get back on the horse, bicycle or whatever your workout of choice is. If you can, do an extra workout or two to help compensate for the extra calories consumed. 

5. Detox with fruit.

If you’re feeling bloated from the rich meals you participated in over the weekend, consume some fruit to combat the effects. Fruits such as bananas, papayas, melons and kiwi can help de-bloat and ease any discomfort you may experience from overeating.

6. Stay positive.

Get over the guilt and think positively—otherwise you may find yourself engaging in emotional eating. It’s important not to focus on the past weekend and instead make a positive plan for today and the rest of the holiday season.
