Low-Carb Rosemary Salmon

American Weight Loss Salmon

When it comes to finding recipes for a low carb diet, our members are the best! This week, we’re featuring a delicious recipe for rosemary salmon that isn’t just low carb, low fat and low calorie—it also yields an array of excellent nutrients that are good for your health.

The physicians at our medical weight loss clinics recommend incorporating salmon into your diet because it is considered very heart-healthy—research shows that eating just two servings per week can reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease by 17 percent and the chances of suffering from a heart attack by as much as 27 per cent.

Salmon is considered an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, particularly two critical ones, EPA and DHA, which help lower blood pressure and triglycerides. Another reason why medical weight loss clinics recommend it is because research shows it helps with depression, which can lead to emotional eating. Hopefully, this information and the delicious recipe below motivates you to incorporate salmon into your diet!

  • 24 oz of salmon
  • Cold-pressed, Extra Virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 4 tsp fresh chopped rosemary
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Himalayan Sea Salt
  • Fresh Pepper
Whisk together the rosemary, lemon juice, Himalayan Sea Salt, pepper and garlic. Brush the mixture onto the salmon cuts.

Apply the olive oil onto the broiler pan rack, just enough to lightly cover it. Then arrange the fish on top of it. Broil the salmon approximately four and a half inches from the heat, for about five to seven minutes per each half inch of thickness. Turn the fish over when it’s halfway cooked.

In the winter, try serving this dish with sweet potatoes or mashed cauliflower, and a green leafy vegetable such as steamed spinach or kale. Asparagus is also an excellent side dish for salmon.
