Strawberry Teriyaki Salmon

This delicious recipe is a favorite of among the members of our medical weight loss clinics. It is perfect for the summer months because it’s light, refreshing and delicious. Serve it with your favorite salad, leafy greens and other colorful vegetables to up the nutrient factor. 

We recommend that members of our medical weight loss clinics incorporate lean protein sources into their diet, as they help us build lean muscle mass, which in turn increases our caloric burn while satiating our appetite and promoting healthy digestion. Salmon is an excellent source of high quality, lean protein and omega 3 fatty acids, which also help us feel fuller longer and promote heart health. In addition, salmon is packed with potassium, selenium and vitamins A, B, B6, D and E.

Strawberries get their bright color from flavonoids, which function as antioxidants and help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. They are also packed with fiber, which is essential for successful weight loss programs, as it fills us up and slows down digestion. In addition, strawberries contain potassium, vitamin K and magnesium, which are important for bone health, as well as the compound nitrate, which promotes blood flow and oxygen in our body—excellent for weight loss.


6 tbsp Low-sodium teriyaki sauce
2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets
Toasted sesame seeds
1 cup Strawberries, chopped
4 Scallions, chopped
2 tsp Extra virgin olive oil

Combine the low-sodium teriyaki sauce and salmon fillets in a sealable plastic container or a plastic freezer bag. Seal and marinate for a minimum of 30 minutes, but longer if possible. Four hours is an ideal time period for a flavorful dish. 

Pre-heat a skillet. Drain the salmon fillets and add a tsp of extra virgin olive oil to the pan. After about a minute, add the fillets and cook for five minutes on each side. While cooking the salmon, add the scallions and one tsp extra virgin olive oil to the skillet. Sauté for approximately three minutes and then add the strawberries. Add two tbsp teriyaki sauce. When the mixture is lightly browned, remove from the heat. Pour the mixture over the salmon, sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve!
